Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is an American and Canadian musician and singer. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. The music of DiFranco is classified as folk and alternative rock but also has influences of jazz and hip-hop. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement being one of the pioneers to establish her own label 1990. The parents of DiFranco, Elizabeth (Ross), a ex-student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each the other when they were both attending. Her father is of Italian origin, while her mother comes from Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the track "32 Flavors". It is featured on the sixth album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco, that was released in 1996. The track was included in the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized for holding a conference in Louisiana on an old plantation for slaves. The course was later cancelled yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco offered a second apology a few days later. Though she's most well-known as Little Folksinger, her work encompasses many different types. DiFranco started taking courses at Buffalo State College at age 16 following her graduation from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
